All-2000’s: Pisces
If you believe the playoff odds provided by the ESPN fantasy baseball client (which I use to run the official Fantasy Astrology Baseball League), Pisces has a 99% chance to make the postseason this year. I know what you’re thinking: there’s still more than half of the season left to play, how can they be so certain? But enough about 2021 – let’s shift our focus back to the Pisces All-2000’s roster.
All-2000’s: Gemini
I’ve noted often that the strength of Gemini is their starting pitching depth, but looking at the sign’s All-2000’s roster, it’s clear that this was a fairly recent development: for most of the previous decade, the “Twins” were known for their top tier power hitters. This group includes two Hall of Fame first basemen, but also a very strong crop of left fielders, including a personal hero of mine: Manny Ramirez.
All-Star Ballot 2021
While watching a game last week (on June 15th in fact), I saw my first indication about the upcoming All-Star Game: a graphic showing the current leaders in All-Star voting. I remember thinking this was fairly late in the season to start hearing about the All-Star Game - usually MLB tries to get you to start voting after the first month or so, which I always thought was early. But then again, I might have just not been paying attention to the right sources.
All-2000’s: Virgo
If you look at the top 50 players in Major League history (according to baseball-reference Wins Above Replacement), you’ll find that the relative majority of them are Virgos. They only have nine total players, but they’ve amassed 931.2 bWAR between them, compared to the second place Aries, with seven players and 782.9 bWAR. However, in the last 20 years, we haven’t seen a Virgo team lead the league in fantasy points.
All-2000’s: Libra
In the years leading up to when I created the first Fantasy Astrology Baseball League (which was in 2012), Libra was in the midst of a mini-dynasty. They had an infield almost as star-studded as their outfield, plus enough pitchers ranging from solid to great, that they were able to score the most fantasy points in the league three times in a row, despite having basically no depth at first base or catcher.
All-2000’s: Cancer
With today’s post, we have reached the one-third mark in our examination of the All-2000’s Fantasy Astrology Baseball League lineups with my home sign, the Cancer Crabs. Cancer is actually in the bottom half of the league in terms of the aggregate point totals of all their All-2000’s starters, but I’m allowed to show some blatant bias on my own blog.
All-2000’s Aries
The first All-2000’s sign I profiled (Leo) had the two highest scoring players to have appeared in a FABL lineup in the last two decades. The second sign (Scorpio) had the most aggregate points when adding up the totals of all players who started for them in the same time period. Today’s sign (Aries) has had the most recent sustained success of any sign, scoring the most points in the league five times in the 2010’s.
All-2000’s: Scorpio
On Sunday, I began a deep dive into the players with the best career numbers who appeared in a Fantasy Astrology starting lineup any time from 2000 through 2020. This time, I’m looking at Scorpio, since they have the highest aggregate point total of all players who started for them in the last two decades: more than 1.4 million.

With the sun firmly entrenched in Gemini, it’s time for the third installment of my analysis of the connection between astrological signs and the Tarot. So far, we’ve looked at the cards associated with Aries (The Emperor) and Taurus (The Hierophant), and this month we continue on to Gemini with The Lovers.

Last Sunday, I introduced a new database tracking players’ career stats, rather than season-by-season performance. I plan to make this new database a hallmark of this blog moving forward, by analyzing depth charts for each astrological sign going back the last twenty years.
FABL Year to Year Graphs
When I first started by reverse-chronological trip through Fantasy Astrology Baseball League history, I included a graph with each installment that plotted how the point totals of each sign changed year after year. Now that I’m taking a break from this once-weekly feature, this is a good time to return to these graphs and take a big-picture look at how the FABL landscape has evolved over the last two decades.
FABL Roster Moves June 2021
Today is the first day of June, which means we’re in the heart of Gemini season. With this new page on the calendar, it’s time to scour the waiver wire of the Fantasy Astrology Baseball League and add players that were left off their signs’ rosters to start the year.
All-Time 2010 through 2020
With my last yearly recap of the 2000 season, I reached a significant milestone: 20 full years of Fantasy Astrology Baseball League history! But before pushing my year-by-year analysis back into the 20th century, I decided to take a break and shift my focus to look at players’ career statistics rather than single season performance.
2000 Astrology Awards Recap
The 2000 MLB season was monumental for several reasons. It was the last year of a Yankees dynasty, a record number of home runs were hit across the league , and it was the first year where the American League and National League stopped operating as separate entities, consolidating under the banner of Major League Baseball.

Last Friday (or Thursday, or Saturday, depending on your sources and your accepted definition of “cusps”), the zodiac wheel turned to Gemini season. In honor of this milestone, I took a lineup snapshot of each Fantasy Astrology Baseball League team, to see how the signs line up just shy of a quarter of the way through the season.

Last week, I started writing about the real life Major League Baseball teams that I would use to stand in for the Fantasy Astrology Baseball League signs. I started with the teams that I thought had the strongest match to a sign, and this time I’ll continue with the bottom half of the league.
2001 Astrology Awards Recap
I’ve already talked a lot about Barry Bonds and his home runs on this blog, but 2001 was the first year when his power hitting exploits put him in the record books. Bonds amassed 73 home runs and 3,618 fantasy points, with an average of 23.6 per game, the highest points total we’ve seen so far in our reverse-chronological trip through FABL history.

2002 Astrology Awards Recap
2002 was the first time two Wild Card teams faced off against each other in the Fall Classic. This matchup led to the Angels winning their first (and so far only) World Championship against the Giants, whose offensive attack was led by the fearsome Barry Bonds.
